The Wagon: Who discovered you and convinced you to become a model and how old were you at the time?
Shawn:Growing up I was always told I have the “look/features” of a model so in August 2009 I decided to give it a try. A friend of mine introduced me to a photographer name Joseph Blue. Joseph and I then schedule a meeting to give me an idea about the industry and to see if its something i wanted to do. After, we schedule the next available day for us to shoot

The Wagon: Do you remember your first photo shoot as a model? How did you feel during it?
Shawn: Yes my first photo shoot was September 2009. Before we started I remember the photographer saying to me we will be done in no time. Which gave me the idea that the shoot was going to be a hour or two. Three hours into the shoot he told me we still have three more looks to shot, two indoors and one outdoor. By the time he said that i already felt comfortable/relax in-front the camera so it wasn't a problem doing a few more looks.

Shawn: Professional goal as a model is to accomplish what no others models ever accomplished in the industry. There’s many barriers stopping African American men from rising to the top or becoming successful in this industry and I plan to overcome by determination and hard work.

Shawn: If I decided to stop modeling today I’ll continue on the same road I’m on now, which is getting my bachelors degree in electrical and computer engineering then eventually start my own construction company. Acting never interested me but it’s something I’ll probably give a try one day since it goes “hand & hand” with modeling. Nowadays models are getting major acting gigs .
